049: Don't let busyness be a barrier to growth ...

There’s a common dilemma every business owner faces at some point, often driven by becoming a victim of their own success. It’s the dance between seizing new growth opportunities and managing an already jam-packed schedule.

Sound familiar?

Picture this: You’re knee-deep in client work, with a never-ending to-do list. Maybe you just signed a huge client, boosting your financial stability, or launched a new group program demanding much of your attention.

You feel great about where you are, but you know there’s another level of growth available that requires learning new skills and spending time building and executing a plan.

And one morning, as you’re sipping your coffee, a perfectly aligned opportunity lands in your inbox.

Something your soul calls you towards with every cell of your being, but then your mind kicks in with its first instinct, which says, “I’ll do something like this when things calm down a bit.”

But here’s the thing - things never really calm down, do they?

Let me let you in on a little secret: that “perfect time” we’re all waiting for to make progress on our bigger dreams? It’s about as real as a unicorn or a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

This might sound harsh, but stay with me for a bit longer.

Now, I get it. The thought of adding one more thing to your plate when you’re already juggling client calls, content creation, and trying to maintain a healthy social life can feel daunting.

But what if I told you that your current workload, as crazy as it might sound, could actually be your “secret weapon”?

Yes, you heard me right!

Let’s say you’ve just landed an incredible new 1:1 client who is perfectly aligned and has agreed to work with you for the next six months. Alongside your other clients, this means you now have a full roster. What a beautiful place to be!

But let’s say in the back of your head you’ve been considering a long-overdue brand overhaul or creating a course to boost your visibility. An opportunity that you know will not generate immediate revenue, will require significant resources of time or money, but when you think about it feels scary and exciting at the same time.

Your initial impulse might be to think, “I’ll start working on that project once this contract wraps up, so I have a bit more space to focus.”

But what if you saw that six-month contract for what it really is - a stable launchpad for your next level of growth?

Here’s the deal: that stability you’ve worked so hard for? It’s not just about paying the bills (though that’s pretty awesome too). It’s your opportunity to explore new horizons without the paralyzing fear of “but what if it doesn’t work out?”

So how do we balance leaning into the next level of growth with existing commitments without losing our minds?

Here are a few ideas to consider:

  1. Stability Check: Take a good, hard look at your current situation. If it provides steady income and predictability, congratulations! You’ve got a solid foundation. Use that peace of mind to think big and plan even bigger.
  2. Start Small: Maybe you can’t dive headfirst into that new venture, but can you take a small step? Look for ways to integrate new learning or projects without completely disrupting your flow. View your growth opportunities and day-to-day activities as a Venn diagram. Ask yourself if there are activities that help you move in the desired direction while also serving your existing work. Look for the overlap.
  3. Perfection is Overrated: Waiting for everything to align perfectly? You might be waiting forever. Embrace the messy middle. Seek ways to weave your growth initiatives into your current work. It might not be pretty, but it’ll be progress you’ll appreciate when you look back in six months to a year.
  4. Baby Steps are Still Steps: What’s one tiny action you can take today toward that big goal? Remember, small, consistent efforts compound over time. Before you know it, you’ll look back and wonder how you got so far.

Here’s the bottom line: Don’t let your current success stop you from growing your business in an exciting new direction. Your current “busyness” shouldn’t be viewed as a barrier to growth. It should be seen as your greatest gift, giving you the freedom to stretch into new territory without worrying about every ounce of your time being directly correlated to revenue.

Maybe you’ve always wanted to write a book, launch a podcast, or create a newsletter.

Even if your schedule looks like a game of Tetris gone wrong, take a deep breath. Remember why entrepreneurship spoke to you in the first place - it’s an opportunity to express your creativity and play the game on your own terms.

And maybe, just maybe, that means saying yes right now to the next big thing.

Not in six months.

Right now.

Future you is counting on current you to make those bold moves.

You’ve got this.

With love, Phil

P.S. I’d love to hear about the opportunities you’re wrestling with right now. Drop me a reply and let’s chat about how we can turn that “maybe someday” into “right now”!

We're going to the Amazon!

I'm excited to share that we are going to the Amazon in September! Part of our 25-year vision for Sacred Business flow includes getting in touch with sages and guardians of truth and finding the connections between the ancient and modern. While traveling to the most remote places on earth.

Going to the Amazon always felt like a distant dream that maybe I'd make space for "someday", but last month I asked myself the same question thats related to this week's newsletter topic, "If not now, when?"

So, we'll be staying with an indigenous host, We'e'ena Tikuna, in the beautiful region of Alter do Chão.

Visiting Alter do Chão, Brazil: A hidden gem in the Amazon region

We plan to visit with 3 indigenous communities during our time there, the Jamaraquá, Urucureá and Anã. It is our intention that this time away from the desk can inspire our own creativity, and allow us to integrate some new wisdom into what we seek to share with you here.

More to come!

Officially Kicked Off Sacred Growth Club!

Last week we had our first coaching call for our new small group program, Sacred Growth Club. We invited 12 beautiful souls to ask a powerful question:

What does it look like to create a business that leads to the fulfillment of your heart's desire, and is connected to the calling of your soul? How can it support your overall lifestyle through the creation of more time, money and freedom?"

We believe in the power of a group. Having a community or people helping you, while offering support and accountability is extremely valuable. Our goal is to help our members approach their business with more confidence, clarity, and a strong connection to their purpose as they take inspired action in the world.

We are offering a combination of tactical business coaching, as well as an opportunity to work with the energetics behind the strategy.

Not only are we teaching practical strategies, we are supporting the emotional and physical body. Body, Mind, & Soul.

Currently, membership is by invitation only, but if the idea of being part of something like this resonates, send me a reply and I'd be happy to have a conversation with you about where we plan to take this community.

Applying to Speak at The Global Gross Happiness Summit in 2025

I met Mohit, the founder of this incredible gathering while on silent meditation retreat back in 2023. The Gross Global Happiness Summit is hosted at the University for Peace, an organization established by the United Nations in Costa Rica. You can read about their unique history here.

Each year, leaders gather from all over the world in Costa Rica to support global happiness, and explore important questions about why this is such a difficult goal to reach.

We are currently working on our application to offer a workshop at next year's event, with the working title "Creativity, Inspiration, and Solving Problems Within: A sacred path to happiness in the workplace."

Applications are competitive. If we are accepted to speak, we'll share more details about how you can get involved. Regardless of the outcome, the process of organizing our thoughts and application has been opening Carolina and I up to new levels of inspiration around sharing our message.

Who We Are Celebrating:

Silvi Demirasi - Creator, The Undoing Newsletter

This week I'm celebrating Sacred Growth Club member Sili Demirasi on the continued evolution of her work as it relates to her latest project, The Undoing Newsletter.

This newsletter is super aligned with what we share here at Sacred Business Flow and explores simple mindset shifts that expand your mind and elevate your energy.

I originally met Silvi on a Soul Wave Connection Call last year, and we connected over our love for the teachings of Michael Singer, and the Surrender Experiment.

I'm so grateful to have her in our community, and to see where she continues to take The Undoing Newsletter.

100% worth hitting the subscribe button.

Here is What I Want to Share This Week:

How’s Your Mental Fitness?

Ever wondered how your lifestyle choices impact your long-term cognitive health? I recently came across a fascinating scorecard that offers a comprehensive look at brain health factors. This assessment tool covers a wide range of indicators, including:

  • Physical health metrics
  • Lifestyle choices
  • Social and emotional well-being

While some indicators might not be one-size-fits-all, it provides a solid starting point for evaluating your brain health habits.

Want to dive deeper? Check out the full scorecard here.

In this video, Carolina challenges common perceptions of distraction and procrastination in the creative process. Discover how what often seems like procrastination could actually be a strategic distraction—a necessary step towards reinvigorating your inspiration and focus.

Carolina often shares the 4-7-8 Breathing technique during our weekly entrepreneurial energetics embodiment classes. This quick video with Dr. Andrew Weil offers a quick recap of what this technique is, and how it can help combat stress and anxiety.

As creators, we spend all our effort creating meaningful content, with the assumption that if we publish on the internet, Google will automatically index that content to show in relevant search results.

Sadly, all webpages do not get automatically indexed by Google anymore due to algorithm changes in the new world of AI-generated content.

WarpIndex crawls your sites and pushes them to Google index automatically to vastly improve the time taken and probability of getting indexed.

This is currently on offer at AppSumo, and something we are currently leveraging to increase the number of indexed pages on our own website at Sacred Business Flow. At $29, it's worth picking this up if you publish branded content on the web.

Check it out here!
